Meeting Friends!

This was how tuckered Silver was last night.. so tired she couldn't keep her tongue in her mouth!

And now Cassie has a posse of four legged "friends" that join her when she eats pizza on the couch - fun times!


Everyone had a busy day today... off we went to my friends house to visits kids, big dogs and kitty cats...

 They explored the backyard, and Silver did some major showing off - doing fast rattie runs all over the yard to show everyone has fast she is... She is fast!
 

Everyone did super meeting Mia and the big dogs - Sadie and Sherriff... No playing with the bigs dogs, just interest and polite greetings... Sidney is the less fearful of the two (with the bigger spot on her back)... Serena took a bit to warm up, choosing to check out the situation first from a safe lap.. Then she wanted down and was ready... They both immediately took to Mia and gave her lots of puppy kisses - even Silver got in on the action.

 Kitty cat meeting went fine... Sidney and Silver both sniffed and ignored... Serena did a bit of barking, but once she figured out there wasn't going to be any reaction, she moved on...

All and all the three girls did great and they were asleep in the crate before we were out of the driveway!

Puppyville!

Silver isn't letting a broken toenail slow her down... She's is still loving playing with the tail and has learned how to do some fancy roll spin moves to try to catch it!  Not that it works, but the effort is what matters!

And now the puppies have arrived!  A total of nine puppies arrived last night and last night and today, they were all sent to their respective foster homes... I am taking on two of the 8 litter mates - both little girls.  To hear their back-story, go to another foster mom's blog here ----> Puppies

Serena and Sidney (so many S's in my house right now, I'm already messing them up) - are definitely sisters.  I put water in both sides of their did, but they insisted on drinking water from the same side at the same time until it was gone... sisterly, what's yours is mine, what's mine I don't want to be yours.... 

 

Serena above... the bigger of the two... I can already tell, she more of the explorer of the two, wandering all over the house, doing her own thing...

 

Sidney above, she's a tiny little thing, a bit of a hopper telling you that she wants to be held.  She was the first to engage Silver in play...

Introductions went really well.  Sasha is getting more slow, short introductions during the calmer moments to get to know them... As I suspected she would be, Silver was super friendly and just wanted to play right away.  I actually had to hold her back to let them get their bearings before being overwhelmed.  They explored the house, got some food and water... potty trips outside...BATHTIME!, then back for crazy playing and finally passing out for a good snooze... these kiddos had a whirlwind couple of days so they are tuckered out... The house has a bit of silence after a busy 4 hours... 

I am looking forward to getting to know them better and getting lots of puppy kisses!  I've never fostered three at once bringing my total to 4 dogs in the house and and I've never foster such young puppies...so again, interesting times ahead!

I got an owie!

Silver had an interesting day... A bath this morning for her...she wasn't happy, but she tolerated it.  Sasha and Silver were getting along - they were very interested in something that came in the front yard... Checking the front window, running outside to the back gate, back and again and again...I was like...awww.... a common foe brings them together... (i figured it was a cat.. a lot of cats in my neighborhood and Sasha likes to shoo them off her property and I think they like to taunt her cause she can't get past the gate)

A bit later I noticed that her foot was bleeding - a quick check showed that she broke off part of her middle toenail a bit beyond the quick, it was bleeding quite a bit ... of course I tried to catch her and she ran from me ... probably concerned about my concern...but she is fine... cleaned her foot up, applied some styptic powder to her nail to stop the bleeding and then just wrapped her foot up good... She's tolerating the bandage well though it was time for a nap after that....

Not a peep out of her either...not when she did it or while we cleaned her up... poor thing though, first her ears, now a toe!... a few days and she would be right as rain again.... (she's cute with the little bandaged foot though) - we will see how she handles a bandage change...

Time to Play

Silver hanging out with Cassie... She has showed interest in the puzzle, but luckily not to eat or nibble on.. she's more interested in the box and has knocked it off a few times but she's learning to leave it alone...    I've been playing with the tail chaser with her everyday cause she loves it so much and I've  introduced her on a treat puzzles, which I think was too easy for her cause she figured it out so fast...

Silver playing with a new toy I made it... She runs off at the 0:24 mark (don't know how to edit vidoe)... I hoped she would come back but she doesn't, preferring to do her toy playing off camera... stinker!

Chasin' Some Tail

 Silver's energy level is for sure back to normal.  And with all the cold weather , snow, early darkness... I didn't get her all the outside exercise she could use to burn off some of that energy... you can tell she's bored, she wanders around... starts checking things, toys don't make her happy, a couple barks at you - like "come on, let's do something!"... You could just tell she need to have a little fun... so in comes the "tail chaser"... A great toy... just a squeaker tail on a tough rope with a pole.... And what fun she had... She even squeaked the toy a few time and it didn't bother her all at, just went on chasing it... catching it, shaking it...and again and again... 

 After a good 30 minutes of 'tail chasing', she helped herself to a bunch of water and settled down for treats in a 'monster mouth' toy...  She deserved a treat for all the tail chasing...she didn't even get to keep the tail!  but it'll be back :) Energy depleted.... for today...

 You know, it's just nice when the foster dogs really let go of the scariness of shelter life and start to feel at home and embrace their new life...   This is Silver after Cassie went out for the night... She was sad that she left... maybe she wanted to go to! 

Silly Silver

Learning to play and have fun... This picture was while she was playing with my feet... she has a bit of a foot fetish.  Better yet is her love of the laser light, see Chasing the laser light. 
It's a long video, but she's got a cute little way of jumping after the light... You will also see my Sasha just casually strolling by a few times to make sure things weren't getting out of control.. She's 10 and onto the lure of the laser light and that she can't catch it and won't go for it anymore...:(

Silver can be a bit of a nibbler... right here is when I went OW really loud... and this is the expression she gave me... she did stop the nibbling too!

Her favorite toy... she was playing and it touched Sasha's rear... She wanted it back but wasn't brave enough to get it... Sasha was keeping too close an eye on her shenanigans... (I got it for her)

Another trip to the pet store last night... she did super... she really wants to meet other dogs... she had enough after about 20 minutes and started planting all four feet...I think she might have had to go potty and so wanted to go home... I've not gotten her to potty anywhere (even on walks) but in the backyard potty spots... she likes what she likes, you know?  can't blame a girl!  :)
