Updates

I've been busy and my updates got a way from me  - so I thought I should get out the ones I've been hoarding for while... sorry if I missed anyone... 

Little Frankie has settled in great with his new mom and fur sister, Koko.   As you can see, he loves her so much and of course he loves his mom too.  So happy for this little guy.  How freaking cute are they?!!!   This is just what I wanted for him.

Millie - (formerly Skye) was a puppy I fostered many years ago.  Now all grown up.  Unfortunately, she was recently diagnoses with Addison's disease, but quick action from her mom and family wiht the right medication got her back on track and feeling better.  Best Wishes and stay healthy!

And an updated on my Skeeter... some people saw it on Facebook - but we took Skeeter to see the neurologist for her back... we found out that while she does have problems in 3 places in her spine, two luxating patellas in the back of the knees - what was worse - was the lung cancer with involvement in the lymph nodes that they found that make any other surgery impossible.  Cancer is most likely metastatic from one of her previous mammary tumors.  I have taken her in 3 times to have them removed after her primary surgery and still as the WSU - they found 2 that I hadn't spotted yet.   Devastating and uncurable.  However, we opted to do some chemotherapy and on her last treatment - her xray showed no progression of the cancer, even a possible bit of a reducement.    Also - good news... medication for her back has been working and she isn't dependent on her wheel chair; those she still has some motility issues. Very little symptoms from either her cancer or the treatment which is great.   As long as her quality of life is good - we will fight this.  She's still barking at the neighbors, licking faces and being the best desk dog-  Go Skeeter!

Updates

Slater - he went home on Monday - His new name is Ruger - cute!   I got to meet his fur brother Dale who sure looked interested in meeting him. and was super sweet.  Ruger was shy with his new parents; but I knew he would warm up soon enough.  I forgot to get any pictures like a dork but got his on the ride home:

I'm so happy to see him playing with his new brother!   I know that will make him so much happier than with my grumpy and sleepy girls.  Yay! 


ah Saul... so good to see him!  His mom checked in with me to let me know he's doing well and is loving the hot summer.... Saul was adopted nearly 7 years ago!  WHAAAA - how time flies... November of 2011 was when he was adopted.   I just love seeing his face!

and here is Shae who is now named Stanley looking so happy...He is now walking around the neighborhood like a champ and all confident.  He is learning some commands ... He even got to go to his mom's work and did super!  She tells me that he is just in love with his sibling Crash and they are BFF's.   I couldn't be more thrilled for this boy.  He was a challenge for me and it's good to see hiim in the right home with the right people where he can just thrive... Yay Stanley!!

I'll be taking a break for a bit for a vacation and then I will be be back!!

I'm Adopted

Of course sweet Slater is adopted!  He's headed off to Bend Oregon today to be with his new family.  He also will have a rat terrier sibling that hopefully will let him cuddle with!   I'll miss this sweet boy  - he was full of sweetness and it was fun watching him get well in my home; but I'm excited for him to start his new life!

One last bath... boy likes to get stinky in the yard as often as possible... He's getting pretty good at the baths...

He's got a little sass in him... 

I will miss hanging out with him and sneaking kisses... but good things await! 

Having Fun

Slater's favorite toy of the week... a stuffed white RAT - fitting I think... Such a different dog now than when he first arrived; so much busier... He loves to run and does at least one rattie run a day either inside or outside.. (we try for outside) and then settles in to chomping on some toys... Still learning "fetch" - he loves the chase, just not the bringing back... We are still working on sit and he's starting to get it!  Super exciting! 

 And he loved himself a bully stick too!  He didn't go crazy and chew it down in an hour either... it lasted about 2 days before it was just a nub and had to be taken away.  He sure enjoyed it though! 

He is the best snuggler ever... Such a good sleeper... though a light sleeper like most - he'll wake up if you move to follow you around...  He's such a good boy. 

Pretty as a Flower

i thought it would be so cute to get some pretty pictures of Slater with a flower... I have a lot of Black Eye Susan's that are so pretty right  now... But Slater let me know pretty quick - he would rather eat the flower stems than have a cute picture taken with them!  Still got a couple cute pictures though!  so ha!

 being so handsome is exausting...

Zoomies

So Slater's energy levels have really come up... he gets the zoomies now at least once, maybe twice a day.  He runs so fast!  Its so fun to watch.... it doesn't last long, maybe 10 minutes, but you can also wind him up by playing with him too and or scratching his butt!  LOL - i think it's his windup spot.  . 

Once the zoomies are done - it's times for a nice nap!  

Doggie Door Master

so who started using the doggie door to go outside this week?  He actually used it just a few hours of my last post where I said he hasn't mastered it.  I guess I hurt his feeling, because just a couple hours later - I heard the flapping of the doggie door and then this...

Cause he is amazing!  He is really enjoying being able to go outside when he wants  Not housetrained totally yet; but we are getting closer and as long as he kept on a regular schedule - he does really well.   He's almost there!

He is loving the walks and is getting a lot more confident and less timid at new noises.  We can't go walking until pretty late since it's so hot these days; but he gets excited now when he sees the harness come out! 

He does enjoy the heat though from time to time - plus he really likes Skeeter ... It's so nice - they soak up the sun together and then come in like little warm potatoes that are fun and toasty to cuddle :) 

Enjoying the summer!

Slater is feeling soooo much better!  Skin is good, neuter stitches out... now he gets the zoomies everyday and plays and just wants to have a good time.  He's so fun and silly. Still working on the housetraining.  Can use the doogie door, but prefers  you to open the door for him still. 

He also definitely has an off switch.  He likes people and wants to be petted and held.  He will let you hold him like a baby but you got to scratch his belly.    He's also a champ at the nail trimming if you are quick about it. 

Getting Better!

Slater was back to his old self after a day or two - he earned himself a cone quickly and was a little unhappy about that.. but figured out it wasn't too bad quick enough

He's able to go in the dog door with it which is great and we are starting to have success with him using it to go outside.  Though so far, not on his own.    He now plays daily and even does rattie rans around the house or outside (usually in) and is showing some good energy.  he must be feeling better!  His skin is barely pink at all.   he will play with you with his mouth and hands  - he really is showing himself just to be an easy going happy little dude.   Does not like you kissing his nose though.  Gets a little offended; but he has such a cute nose!  And so accessible in the cone!  hahah

He finally ate a vegetable - it was a califlower... he acted like it was the worst thing ever.  He would chew once..let it drop out of his mouth..sigh...and then again... until it was gone... not a vegi guy for sure; but I'm working on finding a healthy snack for him that he likes. 

He is also definitely a poop walker... He just doesn't stay in place while doing his business... ha!

Recovery Day

Poor Slater had his neuter today.  He came home wobbly and not feeling good.  He just wanted the sun; some loves and then nice long naps.   He quickly earned himself the donut/cone and was quite the pouter about it but finally settled for a nap.  Can't wait for him to be feeling better!  Hard to see this happy little boy not feeling good, but soon he will be ready for adoption so it's a good thing!

Some cute pictures from earlier -- he really adores Skeeter and the feeling isn't that mutual; but she puts up with him as long as she gets to be boss.. and he's a good listener so it works out... They are pretty cute together. 

Still working on the house training and learning the doggie door.    He's also not a huge fan of vegi's but he's come to appreciate the frozen yogurt peanut butter treats.  I've made some blueberry ones for when he's feeling better that i hope he likes too (Sasha and Skeeter did!)!

Slater's Gettin' Busy

Slater is about 8 months old.  Still a puppy and really mellow.  too mellow... good news though - he must be feeling safe and healthier because he has started to play!  It happened in the beginning of the week and it was amazing!  Before - he wouldn't' play with a toy; wouldn't chase a toy... but this week; he grabbed a toy all by himself and started to rattie shake, throw it and nibble it... He was having sooo much fun!    He's also starting to do rattie runs inside and outside.  You can just tell he feeling better and getting some energy to him.  He's not high energy; but it's good to see that puppy in himm.

I'm so glad to see him getting comfortable and feeling relaxed and having joy.... Feel a little bad as he is heading to his neuter appointment on Tuesday and i know that's not going to be a feel good day but it's a necessity step on his way to be available for adoption.   Some family is going to be so lucky; he is such a special sweet little boy. 

Happy Fourth!

Of course Slater had to join in with the holiday festivities!  He actually didn't mind wearing the hat one bit.   What was impossible was getting a photo of all three dogs together...  Slater wanted to be held and my two just wanted treats.  Fun times for all - but worth it.  :)
