Emmett's getting new digs...

Emmett hasn't been adopted yet - but he's moving to a new foster home.... Not fault of ours or his - his new foster people can only foster dogs with hair like him - so we agreed to let a new wonderful foster family love on him and show him the ways of a good dog life and help him on his way to a new home - we will get a new foster dog this weekend to welcome the new year in with.

Emmett got to go to the vet this week - he's a whole 8 lbs.   And then he got a nice reward of a pup cup which he enjoyed very much!

We made him a bee blanket and he even got a bee toy that he will be taking on his journey...We will miss this little shy boy - but good things are in store for him in 2020!!!

A New Foster Dog for Christmas

A little dog at the Humane Society wasn't doing well as he was too scared and kept hiding in the back of his cage - so when WAGS needed a foster for him, I raised my hand to give him a place that wasn't so scary and he could come out of his shell and find his forever family.  Plus it would make us less sad missing Skeeter this Christmas.    He's not available for adoption yet, he need to acclimated and get neutered but 2020 going to be an amazing year for him!!!

His name is Emmett - he's probably 7 or so pounds.   He's soft and fuzzy... Pretty scared and nervous, but also showing some sass to him. Underweight.    He can't seem to decide if he loves or hates Sasha... She's like...whatever dude...

He doesn't seem to mind the snow which is great and we are working on a potty schedule with him and it seems to be working.

Skeeter

Skeeter came into my life October 27, 2015 through New Rattitude and left my life in October 15, 2019 shortly after her 14th birthday. Because of her cancer diagnosis earlier this year, I knew our time was going to be short and I was thankful and appreciative for each and every day. I feel like she fought for me to be here for as long as she could.  She knew how badly I wanted her to stay and be here.   I was actually just holding her, petting her and talking to her about just normal things when I felt her just leave this earth. I take comfort in that I was able to be there for her in those final moments.

I will miss my little desk buddy. The thought of working at the desk without her to the left of me feels unbearable. She came into my life during a period of big transitions - and she helped me through it being there and being her little sassy self. We will miss her and her little nub of a tail that wagged constantly. Her kisses and how amped she would get when Cassie would just let her lick her face and hands or feisty she became when you would play with her and get her mad. Her chasing and barking at any red light and windshield wipers. Her overreaction to things sometimes. Her love of pupcups. Her barking at dogs and babies but how she tolerated all my foster dogs (and the Coltrane cats) even allowing them to snuggle with her and playing with a select few. Her snuggles at night and all her naps right by my side. The list is too long. She was my velcro dog and I loved her so very much.

I adopted her in January 2016

Rest in Peace little Skeeter - we will never forget you and will always love you.

Skittles

1st picture in fostercare
I received the most unfortunate news last Saturday.  Skittles was attacked by a coyote and even though his mom got him to the veterinarian right away; he did not survive his injuries.  Angela is of course, grief stricken and so sad.  My heart breaks for her.  Cassie and I are also so sad.   Skittles was such a special dog and to know that he only got 9 years on this earth just doesn't seem fair at all.  And sending so much love to Angela who is dealing with the loss of this little man.

I wanted to share some memories of Skittles.  He was my 10th foster dog in 2012.  He also spent the longest time in foster care with me; 6 months.  We got good applications from good families, but we needed to find just the right one him that he would do best in.  He also had a meet and greet that didn't work out.  It took a long time for us to find his forever home but when  Angela came along; I knew she was the right person for him; that she could guide him; teaching him trust and giving him confidence.  She did so much for him and it's was so excited to watch him grow with her.

my favorite picture of Cassie with Skittles

The bonus, for me and Cassie, was Angela traveled a bunch for her work, so we got to dog sit him from time to time over the past 7 years.   He continued to be a New Rattitude foster ambassador to my foster dogs and he always did his wiggles and his army crawls for me when I saw him.

He got to meet just about everyone in my life; from coworkers, neighbors and friends.  Here is with my friends daughter, Mia and then Cassie's friend Heidi.   Everyone who knew Skittles loved him.

He also got to model pajamas as Cassie learned to sew dog clothes.

He was also the first dog we "volcanoned" - wrapping up dogs tight in a blanket like a volcano.  He loved it, can't you tell?

he would let Cassie squish him with other dogs

When I adopted Skeeter; I was sure they would could along famously, maybe even play together; but Skeeter was very jealous off Skittles and he just pretended like he didn't notice.  This picture really summed up their relationship.

He loved napping with my dad on his lap and he even took to my uncle Robert right away.

The last picture I have of Skittles is from the last time I dogsat him in July 2017 - we took them up to Soap Lake... He hated swimming, but was in it for the treats!

He was a good dog.  Angela was the best dog-mom.   I will always cherish my memories of him and am so grateful he stayed in my life and I got to love him a little extra.  Hugs to you Angela -

Updates

I've been busy and my updates got a way from me  - so I thought I should get out the ones I've been hoarding for while... sorry if I missed anyone...

Little Frankie has settled in great with his new mom and fur sister, Koko.   As you can see, he loves her so much and of course he loves his mom too.  So happy for this little guy.  How freaking cute are they?!!!   This is just what I wanted for him.

Millie - (formerly Skye) was a puppy I fostered many years ago.  Now all grown up.  Unfortunately, she was recently diagnoses with Addison's disease, but quick action from her mom and family wiht the right medication got her back on track and feeling better.  Best Wishes and stay healthy!

Just a cute picture of Lola (formerly Scully) and  Silas, enjoying some good beach time.

This is Pippa, who at 5 years old - won't let a puppy win a tug a war battle since she's the boss!

Slater with his fur brother Ruger at Christmas.  Both such good boys!

And an updated on my Skeeter... some people saw it on Facebook - but we took Skeeter to see the neurologist for her back... we found out that while she does have problems in 3 places in her spine, two luxating patellas in the back of the knees - what was worse - was the lung cancer with involvement in the lymph nodes that they found that make any other surgery impossible.  Cancer is most likely metastatic from one of her previous mammary tumors.  I have taken her in 3 times to have them removed after her primary surgery and still as the WSU - they found 2 that I hadn't spotted yet.   Devastating and uncurable.  However, we opted to do some chemotherapy and on her last treatment - her xray showed no progression of the cancer, even a possible bit of a reducement.    Also - good news... medication for her back has been working and she isn't dependent on her wheel chair; those she still has some motility issues. Very little symptoms from either her cancer or the treatment which is great.   As long as her quality of life is good - we will fight this.  She's still barking at the neighbors, licking faces and being the best desk dog-  Go Skeeter!

Update on Frankie!

Sweet little Frankie is doing well in his new home.  He loves playing with his new fur sister and has met some new people and is doing well.  His mom is going to continue to work on socializing him and building his confidence, but he's off to a great start.  He's getting loves of love and snuggles and is learning the new routine without skipping a beat.   I miss this little guy - but he is HOME and that just makes me happy.

I'm Adopted!

Of course he is!  It took a bit for Frankie's family to be ready for him and the weather didn't help - but now he is off to Spokane with his new mom and fur-sister Coco.  I know he's nervous, but I also know how much love and fun he has in store for him and finally a dog to play with unlike my two fuddy duddies.  Good times ahead for him! I'll miss little Frankie and hearing him pitter patter in my house - running at full speed from outside to my office to say HI and get cuddles but good times ahead  Be brave little man!

I'll be taking a break while we get Skeeter over to WSU neurology to see if anything can be done to get her walking more surely.  Fingers crossed!!!

Here comes Spring!

So Frankie knows what's going on!  Finally a dog who appreciates the fireplace!   So much, I moved a doggie bed in front so he could get comfty.  Too bad, fireplace days are nearly over....

Frankie LOVES stuffed toys... He loves them to be thrown so he can chase them.  But he also just likes to play with the by himself nibbling away.  Sidenote:  I found about  5 toys out in the yard when the snow finally melted away!!!!  He has his favorites but no toy goes unnoticed for long - they all get played with!  It's the cutest.

AND YES - the snow is finally gone... Spring is here...   All the dogs seem so much happier to be outside... however.. it's kind of wet and muddly so dirty dogs - so fun... but I know me and Skeeter are both thrilled that the snow is gone!

And special thanks to Aimee who watched Frankie while I was out of town - he did great at her house and loved playing with the dogs that were his size and didn't care about their cat one bit!!!

I LOVE SNOW!!!

I think little Frankie is the only one who is saying that these days.  As it snowed AGAIN this week and is currently trying to snow again... I think everyone is Washington is saying enough already!  But to Frankie - it's a fresh new playground. Nothing is funner than chasing snowballs in his opinion!

Enjoy some Frankie Snow Pictures!
