Skittles

1st picture in fostercare

I received the most unfortunate news last Saturday.  Skittles was attacked by a coyote and even though his mom got him to the veterinarian right away; he did not survive his injuries.  Angela is of course, grief stricken and so sad.  My heart breaks for her.  Cassie and I are also so sad.   Skittles was such a special dog and to know that he only got 9 years on this earth just doesn't seem fair at all.  And sending so much love to Angela who is dealing with the loss of this little man. 

I wanted to share some memories of Skittles.  He was my 10th foster dog in 2012.  He also spent the longest time in foster care with me; 6 months.  We got good applications from good families, but we needed to find just the right one him that he would do best in.  He also had a meet and greet that didn't work out.  It took a long time for us to find his forever home but when  Angela came along; I knew she was the right person for him; that she could guide him; teaching him trust and giving him confidence.  She did so much for him and it's was so excited to watch him grow with her.

 The bonus, for me and Cassie, was Angela traveled a bunch for her work, so we got to dog sit him from time to time over the past 7 years.   He continued to be a New Rattitude foster ambassador to my foster dogs and he always did his wiggles and his army crawls for me when I saw him. 

 He got to meet just about everyone in my life; from coworkers, neighbors and friends.  Here is with my friends daughter, Mia and then Cassie's friend Heidi.   Everyone who knew Skittles loved him. 

He also got to model pajamas as Cassie learned to sew dog clothes.  

 He was also the first dog we "volcanoned" - wrapping up dogs tight in a blanket like a volcano.  He loved it, can't you tell?

When I adopted Skeeter; I was sure they would could along famously, maybe even play together; but Skeeter was very jealous off Skittles and he just pretended like he didn't notice.  This picture really summed up their relationship.

He loved napping with my dad on his lap and he even took to my uncle Robert right away. 



The last picture I have of Skittles is from the last time I dogsat him in July 2017 - we took them up to Soap Lake... He hated swimming, but was in it for the treats!  

 He was a good dog.  Angela was the best dog-mom.   I will always cherish my memories of him and am so grateful he stayed in my life and I got to love him a little extra.  Hugs to you Angela -

Sunny days

Sunny is here and what an adventure we had!   First I got stuck on Saturday in Yakima due to weather conditions.  Luckily Skittles mom, Angela helped me out and picked up Sunny and kept her overnight.

Happily I was able to pick her up on Sunday, but I stayed too long and I didn’t want to drive in the dark while it was snowing - so we ALL (did I not mention I brought Sasha and Skeeter for a fun road trip) at my friends house.  It was a crazy busy night, but we all got to know each other and everyone were great troopers.  Thanks Chelle and Isa for letting the crazy group of us stay the night!   Isa, took some great pictures and we headed home at 5 in the morning Monday!  That was eventless and we were all happy to be home’.

More news about her later  as we get to know her more- but she was called Booboo by her previous foster home - so I’ve taken to calling her Sunny BooBoo - keeps the S and it's fun to say and is super cute!

The Crew...

Skittles is back for some puppy sitting while his mom is away for a work trip... As always, it's super good to seem him... He easily just fits into the schedule of the house and gets along well with what we are doing...

Working lots these days and everyone gets times on the desk while I work... Sasha doesn't like it so much but she will stay up for about 1/2 hour before getting down (this happened while Skeeter was actually on a road trip with Cassie to pick up Skittles).  Skeeter however, loves this spot and stays up there while I work only getting down when I take breaks.. 

 Took both Sasha and Skeeter to their annual vet visit.... First time with two dogs and all went swimmingly until we exited as a big dog came in and then it was a bit chaotic - Skeeter barking, Sasha joining in.. We went back in the vet room until that dog got settled into a room and then we were able to exit a bit more quietly... They may be getting up in years, but you would never know from the noise these two are able to make when they want to! Angels :)

Marsha Marsha Marsha!

So my break from fostering didn't last long... We had a returned New Rattitude dog that was needing a spot... The word was that she was older, mellow and quiet and I thought it sounded like a great dog to introduce Skeeter to the world of fostering, so I raised my hand for her...

Skeeter

 Her name is Marcia but I can't help but call her MarshaMarshaMarsha like on Brady Brunch!   One reason she was returned because she is so quiet!  And not a barker!  So if anyone out there is interested in that aspect, hurry quick because I am sure Sasha and Skeeter will be busy teaching her the joys of barking at noises they cannot see (and ones they do too!) and at things big and small :)

 She did give me a quiet WOOF tonight in her crate where i fed her... kind of to let me know, I"m done and I would like out... also that carrots suck!  (i know this now cause she left them spread out all over the crate for me)...I let Sasha lap them up :)

So far she is really mellow and sweet, loves to get scratches and wags her tail when you look at her...but she's pretty confused I think all the changes so we will see more of her personality I think as she gets more settled in... 

 Thanks to Angela (Skittles mom) for once again bring my foster to Cle Elum... She also brought Skittles who I hadn't seen in a while and Skeeter did really well meeting him even on a leash which was great to see that she is capable of not losing her mind when she is on a leash and sees another dog.

Sorta Buddies

Skittles is heading home today and while these two didn't interact together much or play... Skittles choice, not Sylvester's... they did fine together and Sylvester really enjoyed/s the dashes outside whenever Skittles or Sasha hears something outside worth investigating...  I do believe he would do really well with a well manner dog that would be interested in playing...

Pet Store Buds

Little Skittleman is visiting me for the week while his mom is on a business trip... He meet Sylvester before - his mom actually help with the last leg of his transport bring him to Cle Elum for me!  It's great to see who Skittles is just flourishing with his mom and I enjoy catching up with the little snugglebug! 

 Since Skittles and Sylvester get along pretty good - I thought I would take them to the pet store on a Y harness... They did good together... I don't think Skittles was totally thrilled but Sylvester didn't mind a bit.  They enjoyed checking out the store and sniffing things... Sylvester did try to pee on a few things so I took him back out for a potty break and that seemed to do the trick. 

No greats with people as I wasn't sure how either of them would do being linked to each other... rather just let them check out the store and then tendon treats for the trip home!  They were super cute together and did really well on the leash.. I think Skittles was a big help since he's such a pro at the leash and! led most of the way

3 Peas in a Pod!

So after a week with us, Skittles is heading home... He forgot himself two times and played with the girls which was fun to see.  Sadie and selma are actually going overnight to skittles house while Cassie and I visit Western Washington so the trio isn't over yet!

Full House

We have a guest this week - Skittles!  He prefers to watch from afar as the girls get into their silly antics

 Nothing brings them together like treats!

Laundry Day

Did a bunch of laundry and who learned the joys of warm towels out of the laundry for a snuggle?  Spencer was in heaven! 

 

 I get the feeling Skittles already new the joys of a snuggle in fresh warm laundry!

Skittles is on his way home... the two never did play together in the short week they were together... I think Spencer is a little too bouncy and in eager for Skittles, but they did share space fine and enjoyed some running around together in the yard...
