Foster Updates

Sophie, now Laika is doing great... She was adopted last month and got a new furbrother named Boo and they happily play with each other and are just the best of friends.  She has settled in great with her new family and is just a joy.
great action shot of Lakia! i think that ball is in trouble!

Boo and Laika playing
Simone, now called Sammy (ha, my new foster's name) - is doing great down in Oregon, living it up on a farm with lots of land to play...  She gets to go on walks and her furbrother Chester and her get along great.  She can be nervous of new things, but mom is taking is slow and Sammy is learning that new things don't have to be so scary!

and last, but not least - Indigo (Shelly), who was adopted last July!  Shelly is the dog who loved to jump in my bathtub full of water... She now gets to go boating and swimming and is doing great with her new family.  She's gotten over her fear of car rides and while her and the family cat tolerate each other..her best friend is a family's friends' cat named Button and she gets to go have play dates with Button the cat.  (too cute)...
growin' up!

Happy New Year!

My first year as a foster parent is here... 7 dogs in 7 months.  What a wonderful experience it has been.  I have been honored to be part of each of these dogs journey into their furever home.  And thanks to all the New Rattitude people for all the kindness and support this past year and the Washington team..I couldn't have done it without them! and last but not least, and especially my daughter Cassie, who has been such a great help with these dogs, especially the playing part!

Shelly (Indigo) update!

Shelly (now Ingigo) is settling in with her new family and becoming quite the water dog.  She even jumped in and swam with an otter!  She is also looking very grown up!  I'm happy she gets so much opportunity to play in the water since I could tell she loved the water when she was with me and there just isn't that much in Yakima!  They all love her very much and she is doing really well.

Indigo, formally Shelly - living it up at the beach!

Love this post with her new sister!

yeah!  water for Shelly!

What a pair!

Look who is settling in with her new family!  She's looking good and so happy.  She got to go with her family and spend time and got to play on the beach!  She is over her fear of car rides and now they are just working on some fear she has with some children so she is heading off to doggie school.  I'm sure she will do great there!

Cassie and I miss her but it's so good to see her doing so well and in such a great home!

*Sob* *Sob* Ooo Shelly

SHELLYYYYYYYYYYY!

So on Sunday Shelly went off to go to her wonderful parents, but it was heartbreaking for me, Cassie. I was strong when Sebastian left, and Shelby, but something about her little face, and white paws made me fall in love.
Maybe it was the fact that she liked me more than Mom. The way she would obsess over the red dot, or how she would be impatient for a treat were my favorite traits of hers. Or the way she would stretch crawl towards us wiggling her butt.

Shelly's new home is going to be amazing! I know she will just be in love with Lisa's two little girls, who were very excited for having a new dog.

I think the hardest thing of being a "co-fosterer" is getting attached, which I thought I would never happen. (WHAT WAS I THINKING!)

At the amazing New Rattitude Reunion where about 40 rat terriers showed up and were absolutely adorable all checking each other out and sniffin'. I was unhappy with the fact that Shelly was going home but it was hard to think that Shelly should stay when i saw her new parents. The last kisses for Shelly are still in my heart. I will always love lil shells.

-In other news Mom and I won two prizes for the raffle and one of them had a doggie bed. Which has another visitor other than a dog....
SARAH LOVES IT!!!
I love you lil shelly and will always miss you:)
-Cassie
P.S. Shelly's new name is Indigo, named by the little girls

Shelly has a playmate!

So I didn't managed to get any videos of these two... but Tucker and Shelly are finally chasing each other and playing.  Yeah!  Sasha supervises from the couch or anyplace up off the floor and barks if they get to rowdy... Tucker will come over to Sasha, either saying sorry or please... and they are off again!  So cute!  Glad to see Tucker getting his energy back.. .

Nap time!

Basking in the sun

he's still unsure of the doggie door, he's asking me to let him in.

Shelly just waiting to get the signal to play

Kisses for Shelly
Sasha making sure it's okay to come out with the crazy puppies..

Recovery Day

Picked up Tucker late yesterday afternoon from the vets.. introductions went really well.  First with Sasha and just a little growl from her (probably means, seriously; another one?), and then with Shelly, who was very interested in him and he her, lots of sniffing.  She was a bit submissive to him, which I think is a good sign.  Then all three together in the yard and then into the house.  It's been quite peaceful really.

When I took Tucker out for a potty break, Shelly tried to get him to play and ran laps around him.  He's just not ready yet, but they are on the way to being good buddies.  And Shelly is more interested in Tucker than Sasha, so Sasha is getting a break.

Tucker is recovering nicely, comes out of his crate for a bit for some attention and then back in for sleep.  It's super nice having a dog that is comfortable in his crate.

Moving to the Westside!

Little Shelly has been officially adopted!  Lisa, her husband and their two little girls over in Seattle have adopted Shelly and I will be bringing her over to the New Rattitude reunion and meet them there.  We loved being the ones to take care of this sweet little puppy until she found her furever home.   We will miss her (Cassie will really really miss her) but we are so happy that she has found a loving home that will give her all the love and attention she deserves.   Yeah for Shelly

OMG - I have a tail!

Shelly discovered her tail last night and wouldn't stop trying to catch it, with varying degrees of success.

My Duck!

Gave Shelly a de-stuffed squeeky duck and she really enjoys playing tug with it, fetching it, chewing it and also hiding it in various places around the house and outside!

This was just too cute of  picture not to share!

Farwell Fuzzy Pink Toy!

Shelly had fun this morning attacking a pink fuzzy toy... got the squeeker out and chewed it until it didn't work anymore, spread the fuzzy insides out all over the place and just all around attacked it until it was empty and no more fun... Then she took a nap... All that work was exausting!

it's almost as big as her!

yeah, i did it!

Bath Day!

Cassie took her to the park today and she played with a little dog, tried to chase some birds and was curious about the water. I really think she will be a little swimmer.

Finally, Shelly's 10 days are up from her spay so she got to take a bath!  Again, happy to be in.  Didn't really enjoy the puppy shampoo, but just enjoyed the water and did figure out how to sit in the tub.  Now she's all soft and sweet smelling.. Nice too to have a short haired dog that dries super fast.  I always have to take a dryer to Sasha with all the Pom hair.

Sleep Sleep - Smell my own feet!

I love taking pictures of the dogs while they sleep and Shelly slept quite interesting last night for a little bit on my bed...   What's up with that foot by her ear?

She woke up when I went to get a better picture of her and did finally move her foot, but once she settled again, back up it went!

Going for a car ride...

So today we went over again to Amber's and Shelly got her play on with Sadie (see videos).  It was our third visit and the first time they really played together.  It was super cute.  Cute to see Shelly finally get to play but also great to see Sadie who is 11 years old get energized by this cute puppy.

To get there, we had to go in the car.  She doesn't really like car rides and didn't want to go near the car, but once we got closer, she did get in by herself.  Then she pouted a bit and settled with an occasional whine.  (the trip over there is less than 5 minutes, so it wasn't too awful for her).

Goodnight Sweet Shelly

Whew!  Shelly is one active little puppy... Her housetraining is coming along and she is starting to use the doggy door.  Though more often than not, she uses the doggie door to go hide toys rather than potty.  She is just starting to bring me back stuffed animlas that I throw and I think we did that for about 30 minutes yesterday.  She also stole my cats little play mouse and had fun running around that the house with that.  She is a cute runner as she runs with little hops in there.  So girly! Tonight Cassie and I worked with her with "come" and she did really well as long as we had treats!

She does well with her crate and is very patient in there, though she does whines when I get home from work.    I don't know if her and Sasha are ever going to be friends, but we are going to do more visits to Amber's house and let her continue to get to know Sheriff and Sadie.

Fun fun in the sun

I had to babysit Mia today for a couple of hours so I brought Shelly.  She's getting so much more comfortable over there.  She even let Sadie lick her and do a little ear cleaning.   She was very curious about Black cat, though at one point, got too close, too fast and got swatted at, but that's how you learn.  Mia and her did a lot of chasing of each other and black cat really enjoyed chasing Shelly's leash.. All around fun time for all.

Laser Show

I used a laser light today with Shelly and it was pretty hysterical watching her chase it.  We have to move off the tile because she was sliding too much.  I actually wore her out for a bit after about 20 minutes of her chasing the light.  I didn't even know dogs would chase a laser light (thought only cats did) but after an episode of Wilfred, I thought I would try it... Who knew?  Probably everyone but me.  :)  Tooka couple of videos but it was hard to do with the laser... will have to wait until Cassie gets home :)

Play Date

Back over to Amber's today for dinner and for Shelly to play with Sadie and Sheriff.  She did much better with these two sweet dogs.  She really enjoyed running around in the yard and getting Sadie to chase her (though Sadie won't come off the porch) so it was funny to watch.  I managed to get a short video of it even.    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4V9AQjsMtzE

Surgery Day for Shelly

Shelly's spay surgery went fine and she is just sleeping mostly with occasional potty breaks... She's so tired and my dog Sasha is enjoying "mellow" Shelly.  Little does she know, she's got only a day at most before Shelly starts getting her normal self... :)

Splish Spash

Shelly was taking a bath!  Cassie was running a bath and guess who decided on her own she wanted one too?  She stayed in probably 10 minutes.  It was pretty funny to watch her attempted to lay down in the bath too.  What a funny dog!
Now she is busy running laps around the house... go Shelly!
