Silly Sleepers

Both are doing well on their housetraining... Selma is using the doggie door on a regular basis and when she does go out and potties, she runs in a full speed all wiggly and gives me a bark, running to the kitchen for treat time!

Sadie isn't using the doggie door, but goes to the door and let's us know she wants out... She can come in through the door from outside, but still wants to be let out...

We are working on sit and both are getting it; both are very treat motivated!

Let's Play Chase!

Selma loves to get Sadie to play chase, i think it's her favorite thing to do.  They are pretty cute and I think Selma would do it all day if she could, but we have to watch and make sure the Sadie gets breaks.

This video shows the power of Sasha, aka FUN SPONGE..who just likes to do walk-bys and calm the area down... It's so funny... It just her thing and i think she's down it to nearly every foster dog that she thinks is having tooo muchhh fuuuuhhhn!

But when Sasha goes away.. then they play!

Sweet Sadie

Sadie is so sweet and while she will get down and play, she prefers to snuggle and be next to her person.  She also likes to sit high up on you and even on your shoulder if the view is better!

She's also a donut napper, getting into a circle and tucking her nose in for a well deserved nap!
Last night we clipped her nails and she really didn't like it all, it was very scary for her.  We will work this with her and try to a less unpleasant experience for her...

Vet Trip for Selma

Selma got a small cut on the top of her foot on Friday that required a trip to the vet.. It was definitely more traumatic for us than her... She was excited to see everyone and loved meeting all the new people!

The exam table did make her a little nervous and she needed some reassurance, but when the vet came, she was wags again and tried to make out with the vet... She got a small dab of glue for her owie to keep it closed and we were off again...
She does great in the car and enjoys the doggie car seat where she can see everything and look around at whats going on...

She also loves loves loves the fuzzy donut dog bed from Costco.. She made noises of joy I've never heard from her once she got to snuggling in it... see video.  She is not a fan of the crate and can actually climb right out of the 6 foot tall xpen so we are given her small doses of crating with lots of fun  - the dog bed certainly fits in that category!

Sunshine!

We got a bit of sunshine on Monday and the girls just loved being outside and soaking up some rays.  It gave both of them the zoomies and it was nice to see them enjoying the backyard and not just peeing as fast as possible and running back inside.

Selma is pretty much using the doggie door on her own which is great.  Sadie's a little more hesitant and needs some convincing.

Seahawk Sunday

Selma wearing a cute little Seahawks shirt that Angela - Skittles mom, gave me... She looks adorable in it.. She's been busy this week and learning the doggie door.  She isn't bothered by the cold and snowy weather though she is happy today that it is sunny and bright.

Cute Sadie, too small for the Seahawks shirt, she just walks out of it... She loves getting her belly rubbed as much as possible... She doesn't know the doggie door yet and is totally offended by the wet ground... she takes some convincing (okay, some holding her and taking her outside) to go outside at all, preferring to stay as warm and cozy as possible!

Cuddle Buddies

Look at these cute little foster sisters learning to share space and cuddle.  I am pretty sure Selma would be up for cuddling with Sadie 24/7 but Sadie not so much though she seems to letting Selma cuddle more with her - plus they are playing together and lots of games of tug as time goes by...She's relaxing I think...

It started to snow tonight and both these California girls are not impressed and what nothing to do with it... it took a few minutes; but they both pottied outside as close to the house as possible where the roof overhangs and there was snow on the ground... Sadie took more convincing than Sadie, but they got their business done and run as fast as they could back in the house for treats and warmth!

Goofy Faces

Selma's mouth got a little dry after a playing with her toys...

Sadie has no such excuses...she's just little fangs sometimes!

PlayTime...

Maybe twice a day, the girls get their play on which makes Sadie so happy... While sometimes Selma can get into Sadie space, every so often she just can't resist and plays with Selma and even gets into some bitey face..  They also will tug on toys together but Selma gets crazy and ends up taking the toy... However...she does use toys to entice Sadie to play so I guess it all works itself out!

The Girls....

Selma has got the prettiest eyes I think!  That along with her fluffy tail and she's just adorable.  She's doing well.  She wants to play with Sadie all the time, but Sadie's not up to it as much as Selma would like. She can play by herself but really likes to play tug with you and chase toys.. She's got a little energy to burn, but not crazy hyper....

Sadie (below), the mellower of the too..though she likes to play too but she's the best cuddler and is a total burrower.  She also loves sleeping on her back which makes for great pictures... She's also learning that going potty outside isn't the worst thing and wet grass won't ruin her life...

Getting to know Selma

Selma - so far what I know...

She's not a fan of the crate so much, at least the plastic travel crates... however, she doesn't mind the bigger wire crate as much even going in it on her own to rest.  After a not fun night for either of us...  luckily the wire crate made her less anxious and she was able to sleep in it for the night...She does like to sleep under covers too and is quite the cuddle bug, liking to burrow in the crook of your elbow (or jacket) keeping her nose nice and toasty (how she's breathes like that, I'm not sure).

She's a little smartie pants too.. she figures out how to get in the house through the doggie door on the second night... before we know it, she will be using it on her own to go out!  the cold doesn't seem to bother her all either.  She's thin and she needs some weight put on her.  She's into food and seems to know already that she gets a treat for pottying outside and as soon as she's done; runs inside and waits in the kitchen for me.   She did not enjoy wearing the sweater so much.

She loves toys and is quite the terriers; like to gnaw, shake and growl at her toys.  she loves playing tug with you and gets quite serious about her destruction of toys.  I think she will fetch eventually and that's the first game we are teaching her.  She loves chasing after toys, balls, whatever you throw at her...

Getting to know Sadie...

Sadie - what I know so far....

She's bossy and in charge of Selma or tries to be.. She a little protective of her space and will growl if Selma gets too close while she is sleeping.  We are actually working on this, because no growling is allowed on couches and beds so she has to get down whenever she does this; she's learning...   And she really doesn't mess with Sasha (my dog at all) seeming to understand that Sasha isn't into playing.

She loves people and prefers to be by a person as much as possible.  She also loves to lay on her back and get belly rubs and will fall asleep that way.  Loves to be held.   Loves to be under covers as much as possible.  She's also good in the crate and quiet.

She likes little toys (cause she's so little) and will play a little tug with Selma and a toy.  Super cute. She likes to gnaw on your hand, and sometimes it's a little hard... I try to have a toy on hand for her rather than my hands, but she's fun to play with

She's a prancer when she walks and while she didn't like having a sweater put on, I think she appreciates its for the outside because she does not like the cold or the wet ground.

She eats a little slow and I've been feeding her by hand to get her started... I have to make sure she gets her food because the other two (Sasha and Selma) would get to it  and she would let them.. she's not super interested but she does eat fine.

Her previous name from California was Pocket.. I totally get that; I think she would love to be in your pocket as much as possible and she's tiny enough that she would fit!

Double the Trouble!

The two girls arrived Monday night thanks to Skittles mom, Angela who volunteered to bring them over the pass to me.  They ended up having to stay the night with Angela when the pass was too snowy to drive but they were able to make it the next day.
Selma and Sadie arrive and were raring to go.  Excited to be out of the crate and ready to play with the wonderful toys that our state adoption coordinator brought for me.

Sadie is a little bossy; she's the tinnier of the two at 6.5 lbs and has a chocolaty face.  She's getting over a cold, not that it's slowing her down at all.  She loves to snuggle and she's playful and goofy.

Selma, at a whole 7.8 lbs.  She's a little nervous with all the new things and she's a little too skinny.  We are going to put some weight on her and lots of lovings.  She too, was quick to enjoy a good snuggle and she loves to play hard with the toys.  She's very sweet.

They've bonded a little over their trip together and it's nice they have each other to play with :)
